Dr G Satheesh Reddy is well known for his significant contributions towards indigenous design, development, deployment of diversified Missiles & Strategic Systems, Guided Weapons, Avionics technologies and for sustained efforts in advancement of Aerospace technologies & Industries in India.

He graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering from JNTU, Anantapur and received his M.S & Ph.D from JNTU Hyderabad. He joined Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad in the year 1986 and subsequently joined Research Centre Imarat (RCI), the brain child of Dr Kalam, after its formation. From a young navigation scientist and System Manager he rose steadily and after his multiple significant appointments and decades of sustained contributions to Defence R&D, was elevated as Distinguished Scientist in Sep 2014 and was appointed as Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister in May 2015.

As SA to RM, significantly contributed towards the formulation of many national policies and pivotal in evolving roadmap for self-sufficiency in Missiles. As Director General, Missiles and Strategic Systems (DG, MSS), he spearheaded Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex Laboratories – ASL, DRDL and RCI, ITR, TBRL & other technical facilities. He led the design and development of a wide range of tactical and strategic missile systems to attain complete self-sufficiency in Missiles and initiated many new projects to equip Armed forces with state-of-the-art weapons and technologies. He invigorated the BMD programme and developed the mission critical technologies for Long Range Agni-5 missile. As Director, RCI, he led many Programmes, Projects and steered the development of indigenous RF and IIR Seekers. As Programme Director, successfully developed the Medium Range SAMs and achieved a streak of successes in the maiden missions. As Project Director, developed the country’s first 1000kg class Guided Bomb and laid foundation for Long Range Smart Guided Weapons. He is a renowned Navigation expert and as Project Director and Technology Director, steered the design and development of indigenous Inertial Sensors, SatNav Receivers, advanced Inertial Navigation Systems for a variety of defence applications including the Ship Navigation.

He holds the distinction of being inducted as Fellow of Royal Institute of Navigation (FRIN), London, Royal Aeronautical Society, UK (FRAeS) and Foreign Member of the Academy of Navigation & Motion Control, Russia. He is an Honorary Fellow of CSI & Project Management Association of India, Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering, IET (UK), Associate Fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics, USA and many other Academies/scientific bodies in the country and abroad.

For his distinguished contributions, Dr Satheesh Reddy, received several prestigious international and national awards which includes the Indian Science Congress Association Homi J. Bhabha Memorial Gold Medal, National Aeronautical Prize, National Design Award, National Systems Gold Medal, the first IEI-IEEE (USA) joint award for Engineering Excellence and was conferred with the Silver Medal of Royal Aeronautical Society, London. He is also a recipient of Dr Biren Roy Space Science Design Award, Astronautical Society of India Rocketry & Related technologies Award and has been conferred with Honorary Degrees of Doctor of Science by many leading Universities in the country.

Dr. Girish S. Deodhar

Programme Director (Combat Aircraft) & Dir – ADA

Dr. Girish S. Deodhare was born on October 9, 1963. He did his B. Tech in Electrical Engineering(1984), M.Tech in Controls and Instrumentation(1986) both from IIT Bombay and Ph.D (1990) in Control Theory from University of Waterloo, Canada.

He started his career in DRDO as Scientist in Centre for AI and Robotics (CAIR), Bangalore from 1990 till 2007. In March 2007 he joined the Aeronautical Development Agency as Scientist ‘G’. He was elevated to Outstanding Scientist/Sc ‘H’ during July 2012.

He is a Lead Member of the National Control Law (CLAW) team for LCA and is Project Director (CLAW) since 2016. In 2013 he took over as the Technology Director (Integrated Flight Control Systems), ADA and held additional charge of Associate Programme Director (New Programmes and Systems Engineering) from 2015. He is involved in the design and development of flight control systems for the Indian Light Combat Aircraft using both classical and modern control synthesis techniques.

On April 28, 2017 he took over as the Programme Director (Combat Aircraft) and Director, ADA to lead the Tejas (LCA) programme

K Ravi Kumar, IDAS

Financial Advisor to Director General, ADA

K Ravi Kumar is a Post Graduate in Zoology from Osmania University, Hyderabad and has also done M Phil (Animal Physiology) from Central University, Hyderabad. He has published various articles in International Physiology Journals.

He joined Indian Defence Accounts Service in 1991 and has served with all the wings of Armed Forces in various capacities. He has extensive knowledge in Defence Finance. He has served as Director Finance for Strategic Missile Programs and he has also served as IFA, Eastern Naval Command. He has joined ADA from 01 September 2015 as Financial Advisor to DG-ADA.

His spouse, Smt K Inderjeet Kumar, is also from the IDAS and is a Post Graduate in Political Science from Jaipur University. She joined Indian Defence Accounts Service in 1991.

Shri R Swaminathan

DS, APGD (Current Programmes) , TD (GS) & Dir (MM)

Mr. R. Swaminathan Outstanding Scientist, TD(GS) and Director(MM) has vast experience in the Mechanical System, Product Design Development , and Qualification testing for its ultimate application on Tejas Indian Light Combat Aircraft towards its Flight testing and induction into service. Under his able guidance the Tejas, Mechanical systems encompassing Fuel system, Hydraulics, Under carriage, Environmental Control System, Seat and Escape System, Secondary Power System were successfully integrated on Tejas aircraft.

Earlier, as a Principal Co-ordinator at CVRDE Chennai, he was responsible for the ab-initio development of Aircraft Mounted Accessories Gear Box, Hydraulic System Filters and Launched Indigenous design and development of flexible PTO shaft design and development also. He pioneered in establishing state- of the- art test rigs at this work centre. In his capacity a Member Secretary and later as Vice Chairman Aero India Exhibition & Organising Committee, he has successfully organised many International Air shows both in India as well as abroad.

Shri H S Nagaraj

Mr. H S Nagaraj, Sc ‘G’, B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering is working in the General System Directorate of ADA. He has 26 years of experience in the field of Mechanical System. He has vast experience in the field of Engine Airframe Mechanical Integration. While he worked as a team member along with power plant group of HAL, ARDC. His specialization in Secondary Power Systems (SPS), Design, Development and Integration on Tejas Aircraft. He is responsible for the Design & Development of Aircraft Mounted Accessories Gearbox (AMAGB) right from the project inception stage to the integration and successful Flight Testing of this crucial LRU of Tejas. The critical indigenous SPS, LRUs like AMAGB, PTO shaft and JFS were realised from its inception to productionisation stages through his concerted efforts. In his capacity as Member Secretary & Convenor of DRDO-ADA Organising Committee, Aero India 2013 is the third time that he is entrusted to handle.

Sankaraiah Mada

Sankaraiah Mada, Sc’G’

Shri Sankaraiah Mada has done his B.E (Mechanical) from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi, A.P and M. Tech (Production Engg.) from P.S.G College of Technology, Coimbatore. Started career in Research & Development Establishment (Engrs), Pune, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) Lab as Scientist ‘B’ in the year 1993 after completing the National Level DRDO flag ship Training at Institute of Armament Technology (IAT) under Mechanical Engineering Fellowship Course (MEFC-3) and worked on Design & Development of High Speed – Hydro Pneumatic Launcher which is the launch pad for Remotely Piloted Vehicle – Nishant. Later in the year 1996, he joined Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) as Scientist ‘C’ and worked on Environmental Control System (ECS) and On Board Oxygen Generation System ( OBOGS) of LCA – Tejas.

Currently he is Scientist ‘G’ with functional designation as Group Director (General Systems – Integrated Life Support System) & Deputy Project Director (General Systems – Environmental Control System). He has successfully indigenised High Temperature & High Pressure Gimbal Expansion Bellows and Type certified for service use in Indian Light Combat Aircraft – Tejas. He had been instrumental in Ground Integration Test plan and execution of ECS test cases and successful in obtaining the flight test certification of ECS system for Tejas. He has executed exhaustive flight test instrumentation for ECS and successfully implemented and evaluated various ECS mods. in Tejas towards increase of Pilot Comfort.

He is a team leader from ADA towards Design & Development of OBOGS and spear-headed the OBOGS system configuration, Qualification testing, component flight certification and its successful integration in Tejas.

In addition to his Scientific & Engineering Tasks, he has been part of Core Committee to organise DRDO-ADA Exhibitions during various National & International Air Shows namely AI-2011, AI-2013, AI-2015, AI-2017, Singapore Air Show – 2012 and Bahrain International Air Show-2016.

Currently he is responsible for design and development of ECS & OBOGS for Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) and in charge for realisation of all Mechanical Systems for AMCA.

Group Captain Ram Natarajan (Retd)

A dynamic and result oriented officer of Indian Air Force, Commissioned in June 1978. During his long tenure of 30 years with the Indian Air Force he has held many important appointments at almost all levels of Maintenance Branch in IAF. He was also on deputation to Defence related establishments like DRDO and DGAQA. He has held key appointments of Staff officer to Air Officer in-charge Maintenance (AOM) and Technical Advisor to Chief Executive of CEMILAC (DRDO). He has held the position of HOD, Aeronautical Faculty at Air Force Technical College, Bangalore.

He has been an integral member of the DRDO-ADA Exhibition Organising Committee since 2009. He has been operating as Chief Exhibition Coordinator in the “Aero India” International Aerospace Exhibition.

B Gopi Krishna Scientist ’E’

Presently working as Scientist ‘E’ in the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA)-General Systems Directorate, Bangalore. He is having 19years wide experience in the field of Manufacturing, Product Design, Research & Development areas. Along with this He has extensive experience in Project and Programme Management. He has graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Nagarjuna University and received Master of Technology in Thermal Engineering from JNT University Hyderabad. He is a Member in couple of Professional Bodies, International Combustion Institute and Quality Circle Forum of India.

In DRDO-ADA, He has contributed a lot to LCA Navy Mk2 Program. He has initiated and facilitated for an Aircraft and Ship interface Studies. He has taken more than 100+ Scientists from DRDO and Designers from HAL to Aircraft Carrier for gaining the knowledge of Inter face requirements between Naval Aircraft and Ship. This is very essential and critical during design phase of Naval Aircraft. Lot of Weapon feasibility studies being done by Individual for Naval Program. He has supported the Fund and Budget related activities for Navy Mk2 Program.

Prior to ADA He worked in various Nations Prestigious PSUs and other Organizations, BEL, MDL, NIOT,..etc Received an Award for his Outstanding Performance when He has successfully Installed Brahmos Systems on INS Kolkata Class Destroyer Ships in a record time of 3months. He has also received a couple of Awards when served in BEL Bangalore.
