About Lab

ANURAG was established on May 2nd, 1988 to execute specific, time-bound projects/programs leading to the development of custom designed computing systems and software packages for numerical analysis and other applications.

To design and develop advanced computing systems, especially those based on state-of-the art concepts like parallel architectures as well as associated systems and sub-systems. To develop systems and application software packages for mission oriented tasks to build-up technology in these areas.

To undertake forward-looking research and development in futuristic concepts and to create an environment and infrastructure which fosters such advanced research leading to the application of advanced computing concepts and technologies to areas relevant to DRDO.

To play an affective role on the National Scene vis-a-vis the development of computer technology.

To evolve a Laboratory-University-Industry collaborative arrangements for the effective execution of projects involving dynamic improvements technologies.

Areas of Work: Parallel processing technology, System engineering, Development of General purpose microprocessors, Design and development of VLSI chips & SOC, Processor related technology and System software development for custom made processors.

Dr. JVR Sagar

Scientist H (Outstanding Scientist)

Dr J.V.R. Sagar, Scientist H, has been appointed as Director, Advanced Numerical Research and Analysis Group (ANURAG), Hyderabad on 05th Dec 2017. He was born on 25th May 1965 at Pune. He obtained his B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering with distinction from NIT, Warangal, M.Tech. in Digital Systems & Computer Electronics with distinction from JNTU, Hyderabad, M.S. in Software Systems from BITS, Pilani and Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Hyderabad. He has become Scientist H (Outstanding Scientist) on 26th July 2018.

He started his career with DRDO in 1987 as Scientist B in DRDL in Systems Integration group of Agni missile. In 1988, he was posted to RCI, Hyderabad and after the first launch of Agni, was assigned the task of System Integration of Akash missile. He was responsible for the design, development and realization of on-board electronic subsystems, electrical integration and checkout hardware and software of Akash missile, Akash-Self-Propelled-Launcher and Mobile-Station-for-Missile Checkout. In 2003, he was posted again to DRDL, Hyderabad in Project Akash. In 2004, he was appointed the Deputy Project Director of Astra – Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile. In this role, he was responsible for the design, development and realization of airworthy on-board electronic subsystems of Astra missile and air launcher, electrical integration of the missile, checkout hardware and software development and avionics interfacing of the missile with the Su30 aircraft. In 2017, he was appointed the Project Director of Astra.

In 1988, he received the DRDO team award for significant contributions to the Integrated Guided Missile Programme. In 2008, he received the DRDO team award for Path Breaking Research/Outstanding Technology Development for having successfully configured the medium range Surface-to-Air missile system, Akash.

In 2015, he received the R&D award from FTAPCCI, Telangana Govt. in recognition of contributions made in guiding MSME industries leading to production and induction of Akash weapon system into Indian Armed Forces. In 2015, he received the DRDO team award for Path Breaking Research/Outstanding Technology Development for making significant contributions towards design and development of Astra Air-to-Air missile. He was also the recipient of the DRDL laboratory innovation idea award in 2013 and 2017. He has published papers on avionics interfacing and image processing in National and International Conferences.

Dr Sagar is a member of the ACM, IEEE and Computer Society of India.
